When Little Louis's mother presents him with a golden crown, the young rabbit decides "to change all the laws of his kingdom." With a perpetual scowl on his face, the little tyrant makes his demands in short declarative sentences that appear in dialogue balloons: "The King must have this bike and that baseball cap," "The King only eats chocolate," "The King will watch TV all night long."However, Louis does not get his way and the cartoonlike gouache illustrations show wagging fingers and disapproving looks on every page. When his parents say, " `Go to your room! No one here wants a king like you,' " he trades in his crown for a wolf suit and terrorizes his stuffed animals.
